As a reaction to the terrible earthquake in Haiti and the consequences for its suffering population, Jung von Matt/Limmat joined forces with Caritas and Universal Music to create "One Minute of Silence for Haiti". It was all about a song. The performer: Caritas. The length of the song: 60 seconds. Sixty seconds of silence.
Anyone can join in and help. The song can be downloaded for the usual fee for a tune from music platforms like Amazon, Musicload and Ex Libris. The proceeds will go towards the sustainable rebuilding of Haiti. Caritas Switzerland has been involved in development work and emergency aid in Haiti for over 30 years and has three coordinators on the spot.
The minute of silence is a means of making a donation that will appeal particularly to web-savvy young people with an affinity to music. At the same time, "One Minute of Silence" is a lasting reminder of the earthquake on peoples`s own MP3 players and will ensure that Haiti is not forgotten, even after the media ballyhoo has died down.
